BILL THOMAS drove the 21 to his first
micro win in the 600 class.
|
The carnage for the night started with
the 600 class. Dave Betts in the 22 sat on the pole and
led the first half of the race. It was not easy as
Angelo Mercado in the 3m and Scott Smith in the 20 were
right on his tail. Numerous caution flags kept the trio
tight. Mercado got under Betts in turn two, but they
touched with the 3m spinning and the 22 car suffering a
flat rear tire. On the restart, the 20 with Smith
driving lost an engine and caught fire as it stopped in
the infield on the front stretch. No one was injured.
This gave the lead to BILL THOMAS in the 21 who held off
Jack Spence in the 2 for his first win ever in a micro.
Stuart Carmichael in the 9, Larry Wilson in the 6, and
Shawn Doebrich in the 76 round out the top five. |
| There
were the usual highs and lows during the night's racing.
Most notable was a first time micro-sprint win for former
quarter midgeter, Bill Thomas
of Media, PA. Bill inherited the lead late in the 600cc
Feature after Dave Betts and Angelo Mercado tangled at the
front of the pack handing the lead to the closely following Thomas. |
